In the spring of 2011, as a result of cooperation between the Italian carmaker Lancia and the American automobile giant Chrysler, a new car model named Lancia Voyager was presented to the world community. The car is built on the basis of the American minivan Chrysler Grand Voyager, which is very popular not only at home, but also far beyond its borders.

In comparison with the progenitor, Lancia Voyager offers a slightly redesigned exterior and interior, as well as almost completely identical technical stuffing, which can be attributed to both the pluses and minuses of the model. Looking ahead, it is worth noting that despite the high demand at home, the European version of the Voyager is not very popular among Europeans, who prefer more compact and economical B-class cars. Nevertheless, Lancia Voyager was able to find its buyer thanks to a number of unique features, which we will talk about below.

Exterior Lancia Voyager 2012

As already noted, the Lancia Voyager externally is almost a complete copy of the Chrysler Grand Voyager. This means that we have a typical American minivan with all the ensuing consequences. The design of the car is dominated by chopped shapes, thanks to which the car looks solid and attractive.

The front part of the minivan is represented by a neat false radiator grille, with the Lancia logo located in the center, large headlights with integrated LED elements, as well as a classic-style front bumper with integrated air intake strips and foglights.

The profile of the car has the proportions of a classic American minivan, so there were no revelations. Special attention should be paid to pronounced wheel arches, an almost perfectly flat roofline and the presence of rear sliding doors that facilitate the disembarkation and embarkation of passengers in parking lots and streets with limited free space.

The monumental stern pleases the eye with stylish vertical marker lights, a neat bumper and a large tailgate, which ensures the most comfortable loading and unloading of luggage.
Overall characteristics of the 2012 Lancia Voyager are:

  • Length - 5217 mm;
  • Width - 1999 mm;
  • Height - 1750 mm;
  • Wheelbase length equals 3078 mm.

The vehicle's ground clearance height varies within 140-150 mm, which is enough for confident driving both within the city and far beyond its borders. The car confidently storms curbs and does not succumb to medium and large road irregularities.

If desired, the buyer can choose one of several body colors, but it seems to us that the car looks most attractive in classic black, which favorably emphasized the monumental appearance and muscularity of the wheel arches of the car.

Interior of minivan Lancia Voyager 2012

The interior design of the car is more in line with the American than the European market. As in the exterior, large elements and chopped shapes prevail here. That only is the "chubby" four-spoke multifunction steering wheel, as well as a large and well-read instrument panel. The massive central dashboard sports a multimedia unit with a large touchscreen display, large air duct reflectors and a neat climate control unit with 3-zone climate control.

The massive analog clock located immediately below the touchscreen display of the multimedia system, as well as a small gearshift lever, in the American style, placed on the front panel, look especially stylish.

The front seats provide the most comfortable and anatomical fit. They have not only a grip of lateral support, but also a huge number of adjustments, the presence of which allows a person of any size to sit comfortably. Between the front seats is a massive tunnel offering plenty of niches and a pair of cup holders.

On the European market, the car is offered in a 7-seater version and boasts some of the best interior transformation capabilities in the class. The second row seats easily accommodate two adult passengers, and the rear gallery is designed for three riders.

Thanks to the Swivel 'n Go proprietary transformation system, the user can hide the second row of seats in special niches, and the third one can be folded both completely and partially (in a ratio of 40:60). What's more, the second row of seats can be rotated 180 degrees or converted into a small travel table, making the car ideal for long journeys and journeys. By folding the second and third row of seats, you can get a perfectly flat floor, while depending on the selected layout, the volume of the trunk can vary between 748 - 4550 liters.

The build quality and fit of interior details are at a height and does not cause any complaints, high-quality materials are used here, including soft plastic and genuine leather (optional).

Specifications Lancia Voyager 2012

One of two engines can be located under the hood of Lancia Voyager:

  1. a petrol 6-cylinder Pentastar engine with a volume of 3.6 liters and a capacity of 283 "horses" with a maximum torque of 352 Nm. This engine provides acceleration from 0 to 100 in 12.6 seconds, and also has good efficiency indicators - fuel consumption in mixed mode varies within 11.7-12.5 l / 100 km. The maximum speed, according to the manufacturer, is 193 km / h.
  2. 2.8-liter turbodiesel developing 163 hp and 360 Nm of rotational thrust. Acceleration from 0 to 100 with this engine takes about 12.8 seconds, and the top speed is 185 km / h. Fuel consumption in combined mode is 8.35 l / 100 km, and in the case of driving on the highway, you can easily keep within 7 l / 100 km.

Both in the first and in the second case, the engine is aggregated by a modern 6-range automatic transmission with electronic control and Autostick function. The gear shift is as smooth as possible and guarantees a sufficiently dynamic ride level, despite the total vehicle weight exceeding 2.5 tons.

The new Lancia Voyager is based on the well-known Chrysler RT platform, which assumes a transverse arrangement of the engine, as well as the presence of an independent circular suspension (front - MacPherson struts, rear - multi-link). The steering is a rack and pinion type and is equipped with a hydraulic booster. All wheels are equipped with disc brakes (front ventilated), complemented by a large number of electronic assistants.

Safety Lancia Voyager 2012

The company did not stint and equipped the minivan with a large number of active and passive safety systems, most of which migrated from the Grand Voyager model from Chrysler. This includes:

  • Anti-lock braking and stabilization system;
  • Exchange rate stability system;
  • Cruise control;
  • Tracking function for the driver and blind spots of the car;
  • Adaptive head optics;
  • Rain and lighting sensors;
  • ParkSense® and ParkView® parking assistant;
  • Front and side airbags;
  • Active head restraints;
  • Three-point seat belts, with pretensioners;
  • Mounts for the installation of ISOFIX child seats;
  • Surround camera and much more.

All this makes the Lancia Voyager one of the safest cars in the class, which means it is ideal for the role of a family car, which it is.
