  • The fastest crossovers

Perhaps no one will be surprised by the fact that SUVs and crossovers are immensely popular among car owners around the world. And every year their popularity continues to grow.

Therefore, it is not surprising that more and more stringent requirements are being put forward for modern crossovers - they should not only be attractive, comfortable and practical, but also demonstrate the habits of cars, both in terms of handling and speed.

With all this in mind, we decided to prepare a ranking of the 10 fastest crossovers over the past few years.

The fastest crossovers

Jaguar F-Pace SVR

The official premiere of the charged Jaguar F-Pace SVR took place in the spring of 2018 in New York. In comparison with the "civilian" version, the car is distinguished by the presence of a more aggressive appearance and a large number of aerodynamic elements, exclusive interior trim, as well as a high-performance engine. By the way, it is the motor that is the main feature of the car.

Under the hood of the F-Pace SVR is a 5-liter V8 generating 550 hp. with. and peak 680 Nm of rotational thrust. A pair of it is an 8-speed automatic transmission, which provides acceleration from standstill to 100 in 4.3 seconds, and also allows you to develop a peak 283 km / h (electronically limited).

The cost of such a car in Europe (in particular, in Germany) starts at 100.1 thousand euros.

BMW X5 M

As part of the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show, the Bavarians presented a charged version of the BMW X5 M crossover, while the official premiere of the novelty on the European market took place only in the spring of 2015.

External differences "charged" X5 from its usual version are reduced to the presence of different bumpers, a modified radiator grille, extended wheel arches and a powerful rear diffuser with 4 exhaust pipes.

The car is driven by a 4.4-liter V8 with twin turbocharging, generating 575 hp. and 750 Nm of torque. A pair of it is an 8-band Steptronic automatic, which allows it to accelerate to the first hundred in 4.2 seconds. and reach 250 km / h (electronically limited).

Mercedes-Benz GLE 63 S AMG

In 2015, in New York, the Germans showed a charged version of the premium mid-size crossover, the Mercedes-Benz GLE 63 S AMG.

In addition to the presence of sports solutions in the design of the exterior and interior, the car received a more productive "stuffing".

So under the hood of the crossover is an 8-cylinder petrol engine with a volume of 5.5 liters and a maximum power of 585 liters. and 760 Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission, which allows it to accelerate from zero to hundreds in 4.2 seconds. and dial the limit 250 km / h.

The maximum speed capabilities of the car are noticeably higher, but the specially installed "electronic noose" does not allow to reveal the full potential of the motor.

BMW X3 M Competition

In early February 2019, BMW introduced a "pumped-over" version of the X3 crossover, which received the "M" prefix in the name. In addition, a special version of the "Competition" was presented in parallel, which received a modified front bumper with several sections of large air intakes, as well as a powerful rear bumper, complemented by a sports diffuser and two pairs of "trunks" of the exhaust system.

Also, the car received a 3-liter gasoline V6 boosted to 510 "horses", supplemented by M TwinPower Turbo technology. With such an engine, the car "shoots" up to a hundred in 4.1 seconds. and can reach 250 km / h.

And in the case of installing a special M-Drivers package, the maximum speed increases to 280 km / h. The BMW X4 M Competition is equipped with a similar power plant.

Porsche Cayenne Turbo S

The updated crossover Porsche Cayenne Turbo was first presented in 2015 in Detroit. During the update, the car received a corrected appearance, an improved and better interior, an expanded list of equipment, as well as upgraded technical characteristics.

So, the car retained the 4.8-liter biturbo "eight", but its output was increased to 570 liters. and 800 Nm of torque. The torque is transmitted to all wheels by means of a modern 8-band automatic transmission.

This allows you to accelerate from zero to hundreds in 4.1 seconds. and reach the maximum 284 km / h, which is slightly more than the BMW X3 M Competition with the pre-installed M-Drivers package.

Bentley Bentayga Mansory

In 2016, the tuning studio Mansory presented a modified version of the premium crossover Bentley Bentayga. The car received a front splitter, a lightened hood, a modified false radiator grille, side "skirts", a small spoiler and a sports diffuser at the rear.

In the course of improvements, the 6-liter W12 was boosted to 701 hp. and 1050 Nm of torque. This made it possible to reduce the acceleration time from 4.1 to 3.9 seconds, and also to increase the top speed to 305 km / h.

Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio

In November 2016, Alfa Romeo officially unveiled its first production crossover, the Stelvio. At the same time, its charged version was shown, which received the Quadrifoglio prefix to the name.

In comparison with the regular version, the charged Stelvio Quadrifoglio has a slightly changed appearance and, of course, a more productive and high-tech filling.

So, the car is set in motion by means of a 2.9-liter six-cylinder turbo petrol engine, reproducing 510 liters. and a peak thrust of 600 Nm. His partner is an 8-speed "automatic", which allows acceleration from 0 to 100 in 3.9 seconds. and develop maximum 285 km / h.

The minimum car price in Europe is 89 thousand euros.

Jeep grand cherokee trackhawk

2017 marked the debut of the extreme version of the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk SUV, although the first information about the car appeared two years earlier.

The exterior of the model is practically no different from the "heated" version of the Grand Cherokee STR. The situation is similar with the interior design, where only a few nameplates issue the Trackhawk line.

The main feature of the car is the 6.2-liter V8 engine of the Hemi series, well known from such models as the Dodge Charger (Challenger) Hellcat. Its capacity is 710 liters. and 868 Nm of torque, which, despite the impressive weight of 2.5 tons, allows the car to change a hundred in 3.7 seconds. and develop the maximum 290 km / h.

Lamborghini Urus

The official debut of the first crossover in the history of Lamborghini under the name Urus took place in December 2017. It should be noted, however, that the concept car was first shown back in 2014.

The car has a striking appearance, made in the corporate key of Lamborghini cars, a first-class sporty interior, a rich level of equipment and, of course, highly efficient filling.

Under the hood of the crossover is a 4.0-liter V8 with two turbochargers, which generates 650 hp. and 850 Nm of thrust. An 8-band ZF automatic transmission is combined with the motor, which provides acceleration to 100 in 3.6 seconds. and allows you to count on a maximum speed of 305 km / h. From a standstill to 300 km / h, the car accelerates in just 9.2 seconds.

Tesla model x

In 2012, Tesla unveiled a concept version of the Model X electric SUV, which was destined to go into production only in 2015.

The car has a stylish and unusual appearance, spectacular rear doors that open upwards, as well as a high-tech interior, where a huge 17-inch touchscreen display, installed in the center of the dashboard, catches the eye.

In the most "sophisticated" version of the P100D, the crossover is equipped with an all-wheel drive system, as well as a pair of electric motors, generating a total of 762 "horses" and a peak 967 Nm of thrust. With it, the car "catapults" to the first hundred in 3.1 seconds, while the maximum speed is electronically limited to 250 km / h.

Conclusion

As you can see, the times when crossovers had exclusively utilitarian capabilities are long gone. Today they compete on a par not only with passenger cars, but also with full-fledged supercars.
