The German car brand Audi, three years later, is releasing the Audi S1 ​​sports hatchback, which, presumably, may appear on the Russian car markets.

A hot hatchback (hot hatch) Audi S1 ​​may well melt snow on the road surface. This car, like the Sport quattro E2, are the stars of the rally group B, although the Sport Quattro E2 turbo monster was released 30 years earlier than the new Audi C1 hatchback. There is a lot in common between these cars:

  • four-wheel drive;
  • mechanical KKP;
  • turbocharged engine;
  • short base.


At one time, the quattro E2 turbo monster had no analogues. Now the same position was taken by the novelty "Audi" - the hatchback S1.

Briefly speaking about this cars, the first thing that needs to be emphasized is that it does not reach a full-fledged sports car, however, you can no longer refer to the category of city cars as a hot hatch. The car is equipped with a powerful motor and big brakes, however, the seats are flat and the suspension is like in civilian cars. But with all this, the new German hatchback is very fast, quite economical and quite comfortable. The car shows itself very confidently in winter conditions. It also does not pump up on the racetrack and on city roads. There is a high probability that these cars will appear on the Russian markets, since the manufacturer himself does not deny this possibility.

The base model - Audi A1 has been on sale in the markets for almost four years, and the manufacturer has released a sports version only now. And this is somewhat strange for this trade brand, since previously there were no such pauses between civilian and sports cars. If the S3 was released a year after the A3 debuted, then such a time gap seemed long, since before that, the TTS and TT hatchbacks were released simultaneously. So the Germans were clearly in no hurry with the mass production of the Audi A1.

The limited edition S1 hatchback was sold out back in 2011. There were only 333 such cars. It turned out that the German manufacturer simply did not have the proper number of engines that fit the hatch in all positions. In this series, which came out in limited numbers, there was a 256-horsepower 2.0 TFSI engine. Now the manufacturer has the right unit, with the corresponding number of emissions, in the right amount.

Audi S1 ​​engine

The engine of the new Audi S1 ​​is a two-liter "four", which has a combined injection. Depending on the load, injection can be distributed or direct. Motor series - EA888, fits into the Euro-6 standard. The engine is boosted to 231 horsepower and 370 Nm. With its help, the car will reach a speed of up to 100 km / h in 5.8 seconds, and fuel consumption will surprise in the positive direction - in the combined cycle, 7.1 liters of fuel are needed per 100 km. It should be noted that the economy of a car for such acceleration is obvious.

The interior options for the 2014 Audi S1 ​​are quite varied. Depending on the performance, it can be classically black, or it can be saturated with bright accents. Such accents are plastic trims in body color.

The disadvantages include not very comfortable chairs, the seating position of which is very high. The seats can be adjusted mechanically. The side bolsters are too soft and too wide apart. Being in such seats is not very comfortable. The armrest will get in the way of changing gears, so it's best to raise it right away. There is not enough space for passengers in the back, but it should be noted that the lack of seats is only in the sports version of the S1, but in the civilian version everything is very comfortable. In such a car, the smoothness of the ride is maintained even when hitting rather large irregularities in the road surface. All this happens thanks to the adapted shock absorbers.

All-wheel drive hatchbacks "Audi C1", developing high speeds, "shod" in studded rubber, which will make a maneuverable car in the conditions of snowy roads and not only. The Hatch can easily handle a cover change. However, the steering wheel at this time should be in the hands of a professional, since the amateur is unlikely to cope with such a frisky car.

In the event that the stabilization system is turned on in the Audi C1, the car on bare ice will be pinned to the maximum. The driver will not be able to press on the gas in order to increase the speed, since the motor is not going to increase the speed on the pedal pressure. The driver will be alerted to this by a warning indicator light. Yes, it may seem unfair, but security is added at times. But when the driver considers it necessary to switch the car to sport mode, the hatch will become so frisky that you only have time to drive it.

However, even in this mode, the stabilization system "does not sleep". She, of course, will not intervene when the driver, throwing off the gas, provokes a skid. But in the event that a corrective steering movement is made, or braking, the electronics will pull up the car. If the driver wants to add throttle again, then the ESP will fall asleep again, allowing it to maintain power sliding. If you completely turn off the insurance and let the car sideways along an icy gentle arc (the test was carried out in free space), then it should be noted that the Audi S1 ​​is extremely easy to drive, since the car is sensitive to control impulses. The car can move on bare ice both trajectory and sliding.

In this model, as in other Audi with a drive select system, you can easily change the settings of the shock absorbers, steering. In the sports version, the effort on the steering wheel pumped up. At speed this is not noticeable, but at low speeds the effort on the steering wheel becomes somewhat viscous and unnatural.

Additional space was demanded by the rear differential. Therefore, the new hot hatch Audi S1 ​​has a completely different shape of the fuel tank than in the civilian version of the A1. The spare wheel is also missing in the new car. In addition to the multi-plate clutch in the rear axle, the brakes control the torque distribution.

Price "Audi" S1

Since there is no reliable information about whether a hot hatchback "Audi C1" will appear on the territory of the Russian Federation, then of course there is no information about the Russian prices of this car. While you can focus on the cost of S1 in Germany, where its price starts from 29 thousand 950 euros.
