Misting of windows in a car is quite frequent and not entirely pleasant phenomenon, especially for the driver. Most often, the situation occurs during the cold season, in particular in winter. As a rule, drivers begin to warm up the cabin in every possible way, turn on the heating and spend a lot of time on it. Ford decided to remedy this problem by developing the WWS (Windscreen Weather Station) anti-fog system.

In fact, there is nothing complicated in the system. Near the central rear-view mirror, which is located at the top, the engineers installed a compact weather station measuring 3 by 5 centimeters. It is based on several sensors. Their task is to record changes in temperature and humidity in the car. The electronic control unit also works in pair, which calculates the result based on the data received from the sensors.

In the event of sudden changes in temperature or humidity, the WWS system automatically turns on the air conditioner and airflow in the cabin. Thus, the optimal settings are selected and the windows simply do not have time to fog up. Thanks to this approach, the driver does not have to wait or ventilate the car for the glass to become transparent again. In addition, the anti-fogging system reduces fuel consumption, because the air conditioner and interior ventilation will work as long as necessary to normalize the selected interior temperature. Further, the mechanism simply goes into standby mode.

In its video, Ford showed how the system works for active people, especially those who like to play sports. As statistics show, the COVID-19 pandemic has made its own changes. Many fitness centers are closed and those who decide to continue to play sports are increasingly moving under the open sky. Many people know that even after a short run, sitting in a car, the temperature in the cabin changes rapidly and the windows begin to fog up. Usually you need to ventilate the car or wait until the glass becomes transparent on its own.
