In 2006, the Japanese carmaker Isuzu officially presented its new brainchild - a model named Pickup, which is a small "truck", ideal for the role of a reliable and practical workhorse. Technically, the car was exactly the same model as the Chevrolet Colorado, which debuted three years earlier. Despite the small popularity of the brand, the car was warmly received by the world community, which was facilitated by the low cost and good technical characteristics of the car (see the review of the new Renault Alaskan Pickup pickup).
In 2008, the model underwent a minor update, which affected not only the exterior and interior of the pickup, but also its technical component. Special attention should be paid to the fact that the car was presented in several modifications at once: single, one-and-a-half and double cabins.
Despite the fact that the Isuzu Pickup is a fairly utilitarian car that does not offer customers any special delights, it is very popular to this day, as it is highly reliable, unpretentious and excellent maintainability.

Externally, the Isuzu Pickup 2008 model year is a true representative of the pickup class, which does not stand out in any way among classmates. As mentioned earlier, the car almost completely repeats the design solutions of the Chevrolet Colorado, the only exception is the front part of the car. Thus, the "face" of the Pickup received a different false radiator grille of a more complex and aggressive shape, while large two-story optics and a massive front bumper were left in place, in which neat fog lights and a small air intake were built.
The profile of the car is distinguished by large wheel arches, which can optionally be equipped with special protective plastic linings, large side doors, an almost perfectly horizontal roofline and a body that is traditional for pickups.
The rear of the car received a massive tailgate with a convenient loading area, as well as very original vertical marker lights for that time.
In general, the Isuzu Pickup looks good and is quite modern even today, while it should be borne in mind that Japanese designers did not bother too much when creating the exterior, since the main emphasis was on practicality and ease of use.
The overall characteristics of the car are:
- Length - 4877-5260 mm (depending on the version);

- Height - 1651-1755 mm;
- Wheelbase also varies in the range of 2824-3200 mm.
The car has a good ground clearance, varying in the range of 190-210 mm, which allows it to easily cope with large road irregularities and easily storm a fairly serious off-road.

The interior of Isuzu Pickup completely repeats the concept of the exterior, where everything is given for the sake of practicality and ease of use. The front panel is made in an ascetic style and is devoid of any design excesses - everything is simple and clear. Directly in front of the driver there is a large four-spoke steering wheel, adjustable only in one plane, as well as a strict but well-read instrument panel, where the speedometer and tachometer play the leading roles.
The interior color scheme is made in gray, which is somewhat diluted by the central dashboard painted in silver, where there is a simple but easy-to-use music control unit, as well as three climate control knobs.
Optionally, the car can be equipped with air conditioning, which is not so common in this class of cars of that time. The plastic is quite tough, while the assembly is at a level - there are no backlashes and creaks even after several tens of thousands of kilometers.
The front seats are comfortable enough and have good lateral support - they are very comfortable to move even over long distances. Between the seats there are two cup holders and a massive armrest with a voluminous niche, where a half-liter bottle can easily fit. By the way, there are enough niches and cup holders in the car interior, in which you can always mark out various little things, and this, without a doubt, is a big plus of the car.
The rear seats, if we are talking about a double cab, can easily accommodate three adults, provided that their height does not exceed 175 cm.In the one and a half version, adult passengers will be somewhat cramped, but do not forget that this car does not pretend to be a family car , it's 100% a workhorse.
The volume of the trunk has not been officially announced, but it is worth noting that the car body is large enough and allows you to load up to 950 kg, which is almost 20 bags of potatoes or over two hundred bricks.
Despite the fact that the interior of the car does not shine with design solutions and does not flaunt a rich finish, it has excellent ergonomics, and wear-resistant materials and boring gray finishes are very useful in practice.

From a technical point of view, the Isuzu Pickup is a classic mid-size "truck" based on a powerful ladder frame. The front suspension is represented by double transverse levers with twin-tube shock absorbers, and the rear - by a dependent axle with leaf springs, thanks to which the car has a decent carrying capacity, practically reaching 1 ton.
The braking system of the machine is represented by disc brakes at the front and drum mechanisms at the rear.
Buyers were offered a choice of two modifications: with 2.9 and 3.7-liter engines, with a capacity of 185 and 242 hp. respectively. These engines can be aggregated with both a 5-speed manual transmission and a 4-band "automatic". The drive can be either for the front or for all 4 wheels, the latter being represented by the “Part-time” system with a lowering row in the transfer case.
Acceleration from 0 to 100, depending on the configuration, varies within 8.8-10.5 seconds, while the fuel consumption in mixed mode does not exceed 12 l / 100 km. With a strong desire and the presence of economical driving skills, a car may well invest in an indicator of 9.5-10 l / 100 km. The maximum speed declared by the manufacturer is 175 km / h, which is very good for a car with a total weight of about 2 tons.
Let's be frank, the technical characteristics of the car do not excite the imagination, but the pickup copes with its direct tasks perfectly. And in fairness it is worth making a reservation that no one tried to make an SUV or a sports car out of it.
Isuzu Pickup Safety 2008
Despite some clumsy, Isuzu Pickup has a good level of passive and active safety. Already in the basic version, the car is equipped with a driver's airbag, a wheel pressure monitoring system, seat belts with pretensioners, an anti-lock braking system and a stabilization system. Add in the increased body rigidity and class-leading handling, and you have an almost ideal work car that can play the role of a family vehicle if necessary.
It should be noted that for an additional fee, the buyer could complete the car with an exchange rate stability system, parking sensors, a rear-view camera and other modern "chips" designed to increase the level of safety.
Configuration and price of Isuzu Pickup 2008
On the world market, the car was offered in three trim levels: "Base", "LS" and "Luxury", the price of which varied in the range of 16.9 - 27.3 thousand dollars (1.02 - 1.6 million rubles).

Isuzu Pickup 2008 model year is a practical, reliable and unpretentious car, distinguished by good dynamic characteristics, a spacious interior and a sufficient level of equipment. Based on user experience, one of the main disadvantages of the car is the absence of most of the spare parts on the domestic market, which, ultimately, have to be ordered from abroad. For the rest, we have before us a solid and roomy pickup truck, ideal for chores and confident off-road driving.
